Facebook Fan Wars, More on Millenials

Here's an article from the Chronicle describing the race between Texas A&M and Lousiana State University to acquire the most facebook fans of any university. The marketing and communications offices at both schools are legitimizing the contest and weighing in with press releases and the inevitable bragging rights. Does it really demonstrate that either school is a leader in social media or does it prove that they know how to get their thousands of alumni all riled up?
